The circuit
Suzuka Circuit is a permanent track in Suzuka, Mie Prefecture, opened by Honda in 1962 as a test course. It is the only figure eight on the calendar. The 1.2 km back straight crosses over an earlier part of the lap on a bridge, so the lap runs partly clockwise and partly counterclockwise. After the first two corners it runs through the S Curves to the hairpin and Spoon Curve, then over the bridge through 130R to the final chicane. A Ferris wheel stands inside the circuit.
