The circuit
The Marina Bay Street Circuit runs counterclockwise on city streets around Marina Bay. Its first race, in 2008, was the first night race in Formula 1, and the race still runs under floodlights. From the start the lap follows Republic Boulevard, Raffles Boulevard and Nicoll Highway to Stamford Road, then passes the Padang and City Hall. It runs over Anderson Bridge past the Fullerton Hotel, crosses the Singapore River on the Esplanade Bridge and returns along Raffles Avenue, past the Singapore Flyer.
