The circuit
Circuit of the Americas is a permanent track built on undeveloped land in southeastern Travis County, near Austin, Texas. It was the first purpose-built Formula 1 venue in the United States. The counterclockwise lap climbs a grade of more than 11 percent to Turn 1, the highest point of the track, then drops into fast sweeping corners modeled on Silverstone's Maggotts and Becketts. After the Turn 11 hairpin comes a 1 km back straight, then a stadium section like Hockenheim's and a downhill corner with several apexes.
