The course
The Ocean Course runs along two and a half miles of beach at the east end of Kiawah Island, with the Atlantic on one side and salt marsh on the other. Pete and Alice Dye built it for the 1991 Ryder Cup, and it was barely finished in time. Ten holes run along the ocean and the other eight run parallel to them, and raised greens keep the beach in view. The 17th is a par 3 with water short and right of the green.
