The campus
McCorkle Place, the oldest quad, runs south from Franklin Street to the Old Well. Old East, beside the well, was the first state university building in the country. South Building closes the north end of Polk Place, and the dome of Wilson Library faces it from the south end. Just past the Morehead-Patterson Bell Tower is Kenan Stadium, built in 1927 in a ravine south of the old campus. The Coker Arboretum and Morehead Planetarium sit near Franklin Street.
