The course
The Houston Marathon starts at Congress and Fannin streets downtown and finishes nearby at Lamar and Crawford, by the George R. Brown Convention Center. The route heads west through the Washington Avenue corridor, then south along Kirby Drive and past Rice University to West University Place. It reaches the Galleria near mile 14, swings north through Tanglewood and Memorial, and returns east along Memorial Drive and Buffalo Bayou. The course is flat.
