The course
The Dunluce Links, named for the ruins of Dunluce Castle, lies in the sandhills of the Causeway Coast at Portrush. Harry Colt designed it, and it opened in 1933. The 5th green sits at the edge of the Atlantic, and the par-3 16th, Calamity Corner, has a deep chasm to the right of the green. Before the 2019 Open, Martin Ebert built new 7th and 8th holes on land from the Valley Links, which lies beside it. In 1951 it held the first Open played outside Great Britain.
