The course
The Philadelphia Marathon starts and finishes on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway by the Art Museum. The first miles run east through Old City to Penn's Landing on the Delaware River, then pass Independence Hall and head west on Chestnut Street. The route crosses the Schuylkill River into University City and loops through Fairmount Park. It then follows Kelly Drive up the river to a turnaround on Main Street in Manayunk and comes back down Kelly Drive to the finish.
